The Leadership Coalition On Aging Collier County will be hosting its fifth annual Conference on Aging on Friday, November 8th 2017 at Hodges University in Naples. This all day conference is for SW Florida professionals who serve aging clients. Continuing education units CEU’s will be available for nurses, social workers, HHA’s, Nursing home administrators and professional guardians. Our goal is aimed at providing insight to local health care and social service professionals on enriching the lives of seniors in Collier County.
The Conference on Aging’s theme is “Inform, Inspire, Innovate,” and will included breakout sessions, and an address by keynote speaker Jim Towey. Founder of Aging with Dignity. Mr. Towey founded Aging with Dignity based largely on his experience working with Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He served as Mother Teresa’s legal counsel for 12 years, and also volunteered in many of her missions around the world, including her homes for the dying in Calcutta and Washington DC. Mr. Towey is a former head of Florida’s health and social services agency under Gov. Lawton Chiles(D-FL). He also served as Director of the White House of Faith Based and Community Initiatives under President George W. Bush. Mr. Towey has since served as President of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, and is currently the President of Ave Maria University in Florida. Breakout sessions will provide additional information on county and state resources. Attendees will have the opportunities to hear from health care professionals from various settings, including hospital system, hospice care, senior living, home care services and more.
