With doors newly opened on November 19, 2014, the Golden Gate Senior Center at the ‘old’ Golden Gate library is now available to the Golden Gate community and surrounding neighborhoods.
Through a collaboration among numerous nonprofit and governmental agencies, services and programs available include a daily nutrition program, food pantry, counseling services, support services for caregivers, and direct services ranging from veterans benefits to Social security, Medicare and home health information.
“Collier Senior Resources (CSR) has been working actively over the past four years to bring agencies together and open the Golden Gate Senior Center to meet the needs of seniors and caregivers to find answers and resources making each day easier,” said Jim Barton, Board Chair.
The Golden Gate Senior Center offers educational seminars, support groups, events for older adults, as well as arts, crafts, music, computer classes, exercise, gathering, recreational and developmental opportunities.
A Donor Recognition reception is being held by invitation only on January 20, 2015 to celebrate the opening with those that generously supported the efforts to bring together these resources.
